New Delhi: According to reports, Twitter is working on a new feature that would allow users to change their status. Jane Manchun Wong, a researcher and reverse engineer who is known for keeping track of impending app upgrades, first noticed the ‘Vibe Check’ function. “Twitter is working on “Set a status” in Tweet Composer, codenamed “Vibe.” You can think of it as something similar to Instagram Threads app’s Status.” She even shared a screenshot of the same showing a “Set a status” tab just above the tweet box. That’s not all but there is also a dropdown list that has five pre-set vibes including “Lurking Twitter”, “shopping grocery” and “driving highway.”
It’s unclear whether the statuses will be restricted to presets or if users will be allowed to add unique updates at this time. Alessandro Paluzzi has also identified the impending feature. In a recent tweet, he shared, “Twitter is working on Vibes… It should also be possible to add an emoji, perhaps it is something similar to the feeling/activity option of Facebook posts.”
The Twitter status feature is comparable to Facebook’s post-added “feelings/activities” function. It might be per-tweet, with each post having its own status, or per-profile, with the status displaying on tweets and in the profile view. The new feature’s specific debut date has yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Twitter has begun testing a new tool that will allow users to remove themselves from conversations or topics in which they do not wish to participate. The platform itself confirmed this in a brief video sent to its Twitter Safety account. It will not only let users untag themselves from a specific tweet, but it will also let them untag themselves from the original tweet as well as any responses to that thread.
