Lucknow: Two senior IAS officers of Uttar Pradesh cadre, Alok Tandon and Alok Kumar I, on Saturday, were given key positions at the Centre by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
Meanwhile, the third officer from the state, additional chief secretary, revenue and finance, Renuka Kumar, who were also empaneled by the Centre recently, will have to wait for some more time.
Alok Tandon, the 1986-batch IAS officer, who was given the post of infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) in UP, has now been appointed as secretary, mining, whereas Alok Kumar I, from the 1988 batch, who was principal secretary, heavy industries, here in UP, has been posted as energy secretary at the Centre.
The appointment of these two officers from the state to key positions in the Centre has gained lauds and cheers to the state bureaucracy as two more officers of UP cadre; Sanjay Agarwal and DS Mishra are already heading agriculture and urban development departments in the Centre.
The posting of Alok Tandon and Alok Kumar I in Centre has vacate seats for IIDC and principal secretary, heavy industries which will soon be filled by the state CM.
