Two suspected Maoist couriers nabbed with explosives in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur

Bijapur: In the Bijapur area of Chhattisgarh, two suspected Maoist couriers were detained, and a stash of explosives was recovered from them, according to police reports on Thursday.

The police intercepted the duo, identified as Hemla Santosh (23) and Baburao Karam (31), on Wednesday. The assailants were reportedly trying to transport the explosives to Maoists on a motorcycle, in the vicinity of the Awapalli police station, a police official said.

They were carrying a bag containing cordex wire, detonators, and five gelatin rods. The police recovered all the explosives that they possessed. In fact, they were unable to present any paperwork to prove their ownership of the materials.

The two people, who are from Pegdapalli village in the Tarrem area of the district, admitted during questioning by the police that they acknowledged receiving explosives from unidentified people and were given the task of delivering them to Maoists operating in the Tarrem area, “he said.

A probe is in progress to catch the kingpin. Their arrest may help to identify the other accused who are involved in this case.
