U-17 Women World Cup 2022: India head coach Thomas announces 21-member squad for FIFA U-17 Women WC, tournament will start from October 11

New Delhi: The Indian team for the Under-17 Women's World Cup has been announced. Head coach Thomas Dennerby on Wednesday announced the 21-man Indian squad for the tournament starting October 11. Hosts India are placed in Group A along with USA, Morocco and Brazil.

New Delhi: The Indian team for the Under-17 Women’s World Cup has been announced. Head coach Thomas Dennerby on Wednesday announced the 21-man Indian squad for the tournament starting October 11. Hosts India are placed in Group A along with USA, Morocco and Brazil. India will take on the USA on October 11, followed by matches against Morocco and Brazil on October 14 and October 17 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Announcing the squad, coach Dennerby said, “It’s a new situation for everyone. India has never played a World Cup before. It’s a completely different ball game. It’s a special opportunity to show that to everyone.” That we have prepared well and will not let anyone dominate us.”

The matches of the tournament will be played in Bhubaneswar, Margao (Goa) and Navi Mumbai from October 11 to 30.

The Indian coach said, “When you are on the field, everything is left behind and you just have to focus on the game. That’s what girls should do.” “We are not going into the tournament as winning contenders. I believe the pressure will be on the rival teams”.

Goalkeepers: Monalisa Devi Moirangthem, Melody Chanu Keesham, Anjali Munda.

Defenders: Astam Oraon, Kajal, Naketa, Poornima Kumari, Varshika, Shilki Devi Hemam.

Midfielders: Babina Devi Lisham, Neetu Linda, Shailja, Shubhangi Singh.

Forwards: Anita Kumari, Linda Kom Sarto, Neha, Regiya Devi Laishram, Shelia Devi Loktongbam, Kajol Hubert D’Souza, Lavanya Upadhyay, Sudha Ankita Tirkey.
