U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath Inspects Ghaziabad’s RRTS Priority Section Ahead of Historic Opening

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently conducted an inspection at the Sahibabad station of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project in Ghaziabad. This inspection comes in anticipation of the inauguration of the 17 km priority section in Ghaziabad, which will mark the country’s first RRTS stretch to open for passenger operations.

Although the exact inauguration date has not been disclosed, there are indications that it might coincide with the festival of Navratri, as suggested by Minister of State for Road and Highways and Civil Aviation, General VK Singh (retired).

During his visit, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite pending works and was given a detailed presentation on the RRTS project. It was emphasized that the inauguration ceremony would be conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The venue for the inauguration, located in Vasundhara and situated across the road from the RRTS Sahibabad station, has been prepared for the event.

The RRTS network, spanning 82 km and developed at a cost of ₹30,274 crore, aims to connect Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. Out of its 25 stations, 22 fall within Uttar Pradesh. The 17 km priority section, comprising stations at Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot, is already completed and awaiting its official opening. Security arrangements and personnel deployment plans have been readied in anticipation of the inauguration.

The project, slated to be fully operational by March 2025, is expected to serve a daily ridership of 800,000 passengers. The Chief Minister took a keen interest in the RRTS features for passengers and inquired about connectivity to Meerut during his inspection. The RRTS initiative signifies a significant step towards enhancing public transportation and connectivity in the region.
