New Delhi: The Passport Index 2022 publication by Arton Capital listed the world’s strongest and weakest passports. A passport is a travel document that confirms the identity and nationality of the holder for the purpose of international travel. Passports are issued by governments to their citizens.
The UAE was rated as having the strongest passport for 2022, while India came in at number 87 on the list of the world’s strongest passports. A UAE passport grants hassle-free entry into 180 nations, which is seven more than European nations like Germany and Sweden and nine more than Japan, as per the index.
Six territories were taken into consideration for the Passport Index, which is based on the 139 members of the UN.
The process included a three-tiered method that rates on the basis of a mobility score (MS) that includes visa-free (VF), visa on arrival (VOA), eTA, and eVisa (if issued within 3 days), with the VF portion of their score compared to VOA and the UNDP Human Development Index 2018 (HDI) serving as a tiebreaker.
After the UAE, European nations dominated the list’s top ten positions as far as strong passports are concerned.
Germany, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg, Spain, and France were listed after the UAE. Pakistan was 94th, while Afghanistan was last. Japan is rated ‘24’ due to its convenient access to 171 nations. Japan’s passport was considered the world’s most powerful earlier this year in a list published by Henley & Partners.
