Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray wanted to meet his close aide Sanjay Raut, who is behind bars at the Arthur Road jail. The jail authorities denied permission for the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra to meet Raut.
Currently, Raut is in jail for his alleged role in the money laundering case registered against him in the Patra Chawl land scam.
Thackeray was desperate to meet Raut, so he asked that our meeting can take place in the jailor’s cabin.
Jail authorities declined to grant permission and said that a court order is essential to allow a meeting. The meeting cannot take place in the jailer’s cabin, according to the authorities. It will only occur as per jail rules.
A special court in Mumbai has decided to extend the judicial custody of Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut till September 19. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained him in connection with the Patra Chawl money laundering case.
Sanjay Raut was taken into custody by the ED on August 1, after more than six hours of questioning in the Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land fraud case.
