Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai arrested a woman from Uganda at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj airport. NCB officials recovered 535 grams (49 capsules) of heroin and 175 grams (15 capsules) of cocaine from her. She had concealed all these illegal materials inside her body.
In a statement, Amit Ghawate, Zonal Director, NCB, Mumbai, said, “On the basis of detailed information, a Ugandan woman was caught on May 28 after she landed at Mumbai airport.” Following that, officials searched her luggage but nothing was found.
Further interrogation and a thorough examination cleared up the picture that she may be carrying heroin or cocaine inside her body. After constant interrogation, she admitted that 11 capsules of contraband had been hidden in her body using different types of adhesive tape. Afterward, 110 grams of heroin were seized on the same day.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) suspected that she had more contraband in her body, so she was admitted to JJ hospital to remove all of it, according to the NCB.
“She was hospitalised from May 28 to June 2. During this period, a total of 64 capsules were removed from her body, including 535 grams of heroin and 175 grams of cocaine, NCB added.
The culprit has been discharged from the hospital and is being taken to the NCB office for further interrogation to get to the bottom of the matter.
