After 72-hours of manhunt, Madhya Pradesh police has arrested the accused auto driver, in the rape case of 15-year old minor in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. During investigation, traces of blood were found in the auto.
Ujjain: After 72-hours of manhunt, Madhya Pradesh police has arrested the accused auto driver, in the rape case of 15-year old minor in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. During investigation, traces of blood were found in the auto. The name of the auto driver is Bharat Soni. According to the police, the accused driver was trying to escape from police custody. During this time his leg got broken due to injury. After which the accused has been brought to the district hospital. Along with the auto driver, the police have also detained 3 other people.
The police had taken the accused to the spot where the alleged attack took place to collect evidence. On reaching the spot, the accused seized the opportunity to escape from the police. A chase ensued, culminating in his apprehension.
Inspector Ajay Kumar while talking to media, “Today, we reached the spot to recover the clothes worn by the girl. Sensing an opportunity, Bharat Soni tried to escape. Police personnel chased and caught him. During this, he fell on a cemented road, injuring his arms and legs.”
Superintendent of MP Police Sachin Sharma told sources they used technical surveillance and analysed CCTV footage to track down the main accused.
“The accused is from Ujjain. He saw the girl walking alone. She is yet to give a statement, is recovering in a hospital,” Mr Sharma further added.
The horrifying video from Ujjain, which show the 15-year-old girl, half-naked, bleeding after rape and going door-to-door for seeking help, has sparked outrage across the country.
An autorickshaw driver was questioned yesterday after the police scanned CCTV footage of the locality where the teenager was seen seeking help. The police said they found blood stains in the three-wheeler. Today, the police zeroed in on the autorickshaw driver.
SP Sachin Sharma told that we had formed SIT only after the matter came to light. On the basis of interrogation and CCTV footage, the accused has been arrested. The auto driver found the girl alone. The girl is a special child. She is not able to tell the name of her village and district. She had gone missing from home on 24 September. Her missing report has been registered in Jaitwara police station of Satna district.
On the incident in Ujjain, Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal has demanded action against those who did not help the girl and Madhya Pradesh Police should immediately arrest the accused and take strictest action.
