UK: 3 Killed, several missing after explosion in residential area of ​​Jersey Island

London: In a tragic incident, At least three people were killed and a dozen are missing after an explosion at an apartment building in Britain’s Jersey Channel Island on Saturday. Sources has given this news quoting Chief Minister Christina Moore. The incident was reported to the local police before 4 am (local time). Robin Smith, Chief of the States of Jersey Police, said emergency services responded to the site after police were informed about the incident.

According to sources, Smith further said that emergency services have extinguished the fire at the blast site. He said the three-storey building had “completely collapsed” and described the situation as a “catastrophic scene”. Apart from this, Robin Smith said that people have been evicted from many flats. He told that 20 to 30 people have been taken to the nearby town hall for shelter.

Chief Officer Robin Smith said that a search and rescue operation has been launched for the missing people. Specifically, Jersey is an island territory off the northwest coast of France. The authorities have started investigation to find out the cause of the incident. According to sources, residents had reported smelling gas the night before the explosion.

Police said, “Several residents are still missing following the explosion this morning at Haut du Mont, Pier Road. Emergency services are working at the scene and a surface search of the site has begun. The concerned authorities are contacting the relatives of the people.”

As per local reports, rescue operations are underway to search and rescue people trapped under the debris. In the wake of the incident, the Government of Jersey has urged the local people to refrain from traveling in the area, unless there is some urgent work. In addition, medical assistance is being provided to around 20 to 30 people at St Helier Town Hall. Areas such as Pier Road, Pier Road Car Park and South Hill have also been restricted.
