In a significant development in the Nafe Singh Rathee killing case, two individuals apprehended in Goa have shed light on the involvement of a UK-based gangster in the murder. The slain leader and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) worker Jai Kishan were targeted in a shooting incident on February 25 in Bahadurgarh, Jhajjar district.
The arrested suspects, identified as Ashish and Saurabh alias Sachin, disclosed details linking the murder to a UK-based gangster. Investigations revealed that the duo was in contact with a handler abroad, evident from the traced IP addresses used in their communication. Both shooters, positioned in the back seat of the car during the crime, swiftly fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle at Rewari railway station.
Ashish and Saurabh were apprehended from Goa in a joint operation involving Haryana Police’s Special Task Force, district police, and Delhi Police’s Special Cell. The arrested duo, residents of Delhi’s Nangloi, are associated with Kapil Sangwan, a UK-based gangster who claimed responsibility for the killing in a social media post.
Kapil Sangwan, with a history of involvement in numerous extortion, murder, and attempt to murder cases, fled to the UK in 2020. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell played a crucial role in the operation in Goa, aiming to dismantle the criminal network associated with Sangwan.
The motive behind the assassination is currently under investigation, as the Haryana Police actively pursues leads to apprehend the remaining two suspects. Foreign IPs and technical evidence indicate the involvement of an overseas handler directing the perpetrators.
The attack on Nafe Singh Rathee, coming ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, sparked political controversy, with opposition parties in BJP-ruled Haryana expressing concerns. Former BJP MLA Naresh Kaushik and others were named in the FIR, prompting the state government to consider handing over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). INLD leader Abhay Singh Chautala criticized the Haryana government for allegedly failing to provide adequate security to Rathee despite perceived threats to his life.
