In a significant meeting, United Kingdom High Commissioner to India, Alex Ellis, engaged in discussions with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, to explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration between the UK and Uttar Pradesh in trade, education, and sustainability. This interaction marked a positive step towards strengthening bilateral ties and fostering growth in various sectors.

During the meeting, Alex Ellis expressed his enthusiasm at the prospect of increased cooperation between the United Kingdom and Uttar Pradesh, particularly in trade, education, and sustainable development. He valued Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s insights and vision for such partnerships and extended his appreciation for the time and ideas shared during their interaction.

On a separate occasion, on October 21, Alex Ellis commended India’s remarkable achievement in the successful execution of the Test Vehicle Abort Mission, a crucial part of the Gaganyaan Project. He described this accomplishment as a testament to India’s ambition and capabilities, which have been widely acknowledged and admired on the global stage.

In response to questions regarding UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s potential visit to India, Ellis indicated that such visits would become more feasible once the Free Trade Agreement is in place. Negotiations for this agreement between India and the UK commenced in 2022, with the 12th round of talks taking place in August this year. Progress is anticipated, and the UK is committed to achieving a balanced and ambitious agreement.

Furthermore, Alex Ellis shared his joy in participating in the Durga Puja festival celebrations in Delhi, highlighting the festival’s significance and Indian hospitality.
