Ukraine’s president, Zelensky, claims most drone ‘monsters’ launched by Russia shot down

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy has claimed that his army has shot down 23 of the more than 30 Iranian Shahed drones that Russia launched over the past two days.

Kyiv: Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy has claimed that his army has shot down 23 of the more than 30 Iranian Shahed drones that Russia launched over the past two days. He referred to them as “metal monsters.” During the same time frame, Ukrainian forces also downed two Ka-52 attack helicopters, a Kh-59 cruise missile, and a third Su-25 fighter plane.

In his routine nightly address to the nation, Zelenskiy stated that since the commencement of its invasion in late February, Russia had carried out more than 8,000 air attacks and launched 4,500 missile strikes on Ukraine. Iran and Russia both reject the transfer of the Shahed weaponry.

Ukraine’s electricity-operator Ukrenergo has been still facing a stiff challenge in generating electricity in the country. People need to reduce their energy consumption. Ukrenergo announced this on its Telegram channel.

Overnight, local officials reported on Telegram that Russian soldiers attacked Mykolaiv and a number of settlements in the Kharkiv region close to the Ukrainian-Russian border. According to the General Staff, the Ukrainian army kept up its counteroffensive in a number of places. Citing Russian sources, the Institute for the Study of War reported that counteroffensive operations were carried out along the Kreminna-Lysychansk line and in the northeastern Kharkiv Region.

Additionally, it emphasised the limited ground attacks by Ukrainian forces in the Kherson region, where Russian forces are still preparing for defence along the Dnipro River’s east bank. As per the report by General Staff of the Ukrainian Army, Russian forces continued their offensive operations into Bakhmut and Avdiivka in the Donetsk Region.
