Uma Bharti reveals her ‘sanyas’ tale reasons, why she will be called only ‘Didi Maa’

The former CM of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti, clarified that she took sanyas on November 17, 1992, at Amarkantak, when her name was changed to Umashree Bharti from Uma Bharti.

Bhopal: The former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, Uma Bharti, clarified that she took sanyas on November 17, 1992, at Amarkantak, when her name was changed to Umashree Bharti from Uma Bharti, sparking controversy. BJP leader Uma Bharti said she would end all connections as of that date. According to the advice of her current guru, Shri Vidyasagar ji Maharaj, the BJP leader shall henceforth be called “Didi Maa’ On the occasion of the 30 years of that.

She said that because she was a member of Parliament when she took sanyas, her name could not be officially changed.

The family into which I was born—my brothers and nephews—came out in favour of me in my political journey. 

Uma Bharti praised Jyotiraditya Scindia and said she is happy that he is in the BJP now. Crediting Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya for the BJP’s massive inroads in Bengal, Uma Bharti said he is doing great work for the party.

Currently, Uma Bharti keeps herself away from active politics, but she actively takes part in public and political life. On November 3, the Election Commission announced the state assembly poll dates for Gujarat. Uma Bharti is hoping for a landslide victory for the BJP.

On November 4, Uma Bharti discussed  her sanyas on Twitter and mentioned that her sanyas ceremony occurred for 3 days in 1992. Rajmata ji, then the chief minister, Sunderlal Patwa, and the top brass of the BJP leaders of the state were present during that period at her sanyas ceremony, she recalled.

I had the assignment to organise the masses in Ayodhya just after my deeksha. The incident at Babri Masjid took place on December 6, 1992.  I travelled from Amarkantak to Ayodhya when the Babri structure was demolished, and from there I was arrested along with Advani ji,” Uma Bharti recalled.
