United Airlines briefly grounded in US due to technical glitch

New Delhi: United Airlines said that it has temporarily resumed flights after briefly grounding all aircraft in the U.S. at their point of departure due to a systemwide technology issue.

New Delhi: United Airlines said that it has resumed flights after briefly grounding all aircraft in the U.S. at their point of departure due to a system wide technology issue. United said on X, We have identified a fix for the technology issue and flights have resumed. We’re working with impacted customers to help them reach their destinations as soon as possible.

The major US carrier told in a 1730 GMT email that it was grounding all planes at their departure airports, while air flights would continue to their destinations.

The Federal Aviation Administration’s notice cited an equipment malfunction as the reason behind the ground stop order. But United said around 1800 GMT that the ground stop order had been lifted.

United said on X, We have identified a fix for the technology issue and flights have resumed. “We’re working with impacted customers to help them reach their destinations as soon as possible.”

The Federal Aviation Administration said it was asked by United to pause departures nationwide. The first announcement was posted to the FAA page at 1633 GMT.
