Unruly Passenger assaulted crew member in Air India flight coming from Goa to Delhi

New Delhi: A male passenger on board an Air India flight from Goa on Monday assaulted a crew member and was handed over to security personnel after landing at the Delhi airport. The airline company gave this information.

In the last few months, many cases of unruly behavior of passengers have come to light in the planes and the latest case is of flight number AI882 coming from Goa to Delhi.

An Air India spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday, “The said passenger abused the crew members and then assaulted one of them. Even after landing at Delhi airport, the passenger continued to behave aggressively without provocation and was handed over to the security personnel. We have informed the regulator about the incident.

Further information about the incident is not available at the moment.

The spokesperson said, “The safety of our crew and passengers is of utmost importance to us and we strongly condemn this unruly behavior of the passenger. We will provide all possible assistance to the affected crew members.

Air India had earlier banned a man from flying for two years for misbehaving with two female crew members on a Delhi-London flight on April 10.

According to the rules, such behavior of passengers is classified on three levels.

Unruly behavior such as physical gestures, verbal abuse and alcohol intoxication are classified as Level 1 while physically abusive behavior such as pushing, kicking or sexual harassment is classified as Level 2.

Life-threatening behavior such as damaging aircraft navigation systems, physical violence such as strangulation and assault with intent to kill are considered Level 3.

Depending on the level of unruly behaviour, an internal committee constituted by the airline concerned may decide the period for which a passenger guilty of unruly behavior may be banned from flying.
