UP: 2 Killed in explosion of oxygen cylinder outside hospital in Chandauli

In Chandauli district, on the morning of Friday 30 December 2022, a horrific accident took place due to the explosion of an oxygen cylinder.

Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh: In Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district, on the morning of Friday, December 30, 2022, a horrific accident took place due to the explosion of an oxygen cylinder. Two people died due to explosion of oxygen cylinder. The cylinder exploded so fast that both of them were torn apart. The body parts of both were scattered here and there. The people around were horrified after hearing the sound of the explosion. After getting the information, the police has also reached the spot. The bodies of both the deceased have been collected and sent for postmortem.

According to the information, this incident happened between 9:00 am and 9:30 am outside Dayal Hospital located in Ravinagar locality of Mughalsarai in Chandauli district. A car loaded with oxygen cylinders was parked outside the hospital. Some people were unloading the oxygen cylinder from the car, while the tractor trolley hit the cylinder-laden vehicle, due to which a cylinder fell down and exploded with a loud noise. Two people were left in rags due to the explosion of the cylinder. Hearing the sound of the explosion, the people around were horrified and came out of the houses.

The local Superintendent of Police and Mughalsarai MLA reached the spot immediately. The police took the dead body into custody, and sent it for autopsy. Security camera footage from the surrounding areas is being investigated.

A huge crowd gathered around the spot, and the fire brigade also rushed there.

Superintendent of Police Ankur Aggarwal inspected the spot and a forensics team was called in. Both the people who died used to work in the company that supplied oxygen cylinders.

A truck carrying bricks can also be seen at the spot. The driver of this truck reportedly abandoned his vehicle and ran for his life on hearing the explosion.

The police are investigating whether the oxygen cylinders’ refilling and packing was done properly.
