Lucknow: A major accident took place on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway on Sunday night. At least six people were dead and a few injured after a speeding truck crushed pedestrians after hitting a car on a highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district on Sunday. At the same time, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He has instructed to provide immediate treatment to the injured.
This incident is of the intersection of Kanpur-Lucknow Highway in Achalganj police station area. Eyewitnesses told that the dumper dragged the car for a long distance after hitting it. Due to this, women standing on the roadside came under the grip. 6 people have died in the accident. On information, the police started the rescue and took everyone out.
Local police rushed to the spot as soon as the accident was reported. Those injured are being shifted to nearby hospitals.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Shashi Shekhar Singh was also present at the spot. The incident took place in Achalganj Police Station jurisdiction near Lucknow-Kanpur highway.
The deceased have been identified as Chhottelal (32), Shivang (30), Vimlesh (60), Rampyari (45) and her daughter Shivani (13), Emergency Medical Officer at the district hospital Dr Ashish said, adding the identity of the sixth victim is yet to be ascertained.
At the same time, angry locals blocked the road after the accident. Due to this, a line of vehicles more than 5 kilometers long started on the Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway. When the police tried to explain, the angry people pelted stones at the police. A policeman was also injured in this. At present, the police is busy in convincing the people.
