Lucknow: As the second Covid-19 wave seems to be diffusing out in Uttar Pradesh and the state starts unlocking after seeing a heightened corona case tallies during the past two months, another threat of upcoming water-borne diseases has concerned the state government ahead the arrival of the monsoon season. In view of this, the authorities have initiated a statewide campaign to mitigate the possibilities of expected infections like encephalitis & malaria.

Sanitation and fogging drives

As a part of the multiple initiatives, all areas of the state will be monitored regularly to prevent large-scale outbreaks of the diseases. It has been said that a focused scheme for door-to-door distribution of medical kits will be undertaken. Further, the officials have been asked to make sure that the drugs are not overpriced while the Medical Corporation has been instructed to regulate quality, packing, and convenience of supply.

Additionally, repetitive sanitation and fogging drives will be conducted across the state to curtail the spread of water-borne diseases. As per a government official, the UP administration will use its past learnings of dealing with Japanese encephalitis to tackle expected infections. Besides, this experience will also help in controlling the effects of the third COVID wave.

Dialysis centres and blood banks to be amplified across all districts

While there are proposals to augment dialysis centres in each district based on public-private partnership, the count of blood banks will also be amplified. Further, the government is alarmed by the fears of the upcoming third wave and a string of measures have been planned in this regard.
