Lucknow: On Sunday, BJP grabbed two keys seats from the Samajwadi Party (SP) in the by-elections held in Azamgarh and Rampur. In Azamgarh, an SP bastion, BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ won against his nearest rival, Dharmendra Yadav of the Akhilesh Yadav-led party, 8,679 votes.

BJP’s Ghanshyam Lodhi defeated Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Mohd Asim Raja by a comfortable margin of 42,192 votes in the direct contest in Rampur. After winning the Azamgarh bypoll, BJP’s winning candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirahua’ asserted that his win is a result of the work done by Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

BJP’S Nirahua said, “This is the win of initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. I was sad that while the people of country and state were with PM Modi and Yogi Ji, Azamgarh was stuck behind.”

After In a massive win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Rampur and Azamgarh bypolls, Taking to Twitter PM Modi tweeted, “The by-poll wins in Azamgarh and Rampur are historic. It indicates wide-scale acceptance and support for the double engine Governments at the Centre and in UP. Grateful to the people for their support. I appreciate the efforts of our Party Karyakartas”.

Taking to Twitter CM Yogi Adityanath said, “The win on Rampur Lok Sabha seat reaffirms common people’s faith in people-friendly policies of the BJP’s ‘double engine’ government under prime minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.” . He further credited the leadership of the saffron party, its dedicated ‘karyakartas’, and thanked the people of Rampur.

On Azamgarh, the chief minister posted a similarly-worded tweet.
