The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Principal Chief Material Manager (IRSS: 1988) of North Eastern Railway (NER), Gorakhpur, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant.
A case was registered on a complaint against Principal Chief Material Manager KC Joshi (IRSS: 1988), NER, Gorakhpur on the allegations of demanding undue advantage of Rs 7 lakh for not cancelling the registration of the complainant firm on the GeM Portal. It was further alleged that the complainant’s company was supplying Rs.80,000/- per truck per month to the Railways on annual contract.
As soon as CBI got information about this, it laid trap and caught the accused while taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant. The arrested accused is being presented before the competent court, in Lucknow.
Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused in Gorakhpur and Noida (Uttar Pradesh), in which cash worth Rs. Rs 2.61 crore (approximately) and incriminating documents have been recovered during the recovery.
