UP Court Declares Jaya Prada an Absconder, Orders Arrest in Election Code Violation Cases

A court in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, has declared former MP and actor Jaya Prada an "absconder" in connection with two cases of election code violations related to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

A court in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, has declared former MP and actor Jaya Prada an “absconder” in connection with two cases of election code violations related to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The court has directed the police to arrest her and present her before the court on March 6.

UP Court Declares Jaya Prada an Absconder. According to Amarnath Tiwari, a senior prosecution officer, two cases were filed against the ex-MP at Kemari and Swar police stations for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct during the 2019 polls when she was the BJP candidate from Rampur.

Orders Arrest in Election Code Violation Cases. Despite several summonses issued by the special MP-MLA court, Jaya Prada failed to appear. Subsequently, non-bailable warrants were issued seven times, but she remained elusive. In response, the police reported that Jaya Prada was actively avoiding arrest, with all her known mobile numbers switched off.

Judge Shobhit Bansal, in response to this information, took a stern stance and officially declared Jaya Prada an absconder.
