The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to enhance the dearness allowance (DA) of state employees by 4% and distribute both the DA and bonus before Diwali.
Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has taken a leaf from the Central government and is gearing up to enhance the dearness allowance (DA) of state employees by 4% and distribute both the DA and bonus before Diwali, much like the Central government, which has hiked DA for central employees.
On Wednesday, a directive was issued to raise the DA of Central Government employees by 4%. Employees of the central government, who previously received 34% DA, will now receive 38% DA, effective from July 2022.
The finance department has been drafting a proposal to raise the DA of state employees by 4%, as per the sources in the Uttar Pradesh government. It is expected that the state government will issue an order to pay the bonus and DA at an increased rate before Diwali.
If the UP government wishes to provide state employees with the benefit of increased DA before Diwali, then the state government must issue an order for the payment of the October salary prior to Diwali, which will be celebrated on October 24 this year.
The bills pertaining to the September salary have already been paid. The state exchequer will bear an additional financial burden of around Rs 1,000 crore annually as a result of the hike in DA.
However, if the state government orders for the increase in the dearness allowance, then it will benefit around 10 lakh state employees, 8 lakh teachers, and 12 lakh pensioners.
