Deoria: Six purchase centre in-charges and the district manager of the paddy purchasing agency UPSS have been suspended in connection with the scam of 20,000 quintals of paddy in the Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
Overall, seven people were found guilty of irregularities, and all the accused have been suspended in relation to the fraud. This decision was taken in response to the DM’s investigation and the team from Lucknow’s Food and Logistics Department’s inquiry report.
Regarding the misuse of paddy, an FIR has been lodged against four of the purchase centre in-charges . The scam was discovered as a result of DM’s online review. According to him, farmers have procured nine lakh quintals of paddy so far.
An investigation has taken place at the 54 purchase centres after irregularities were highlighted after 16,000 quintals of paddy were found missing in the stock of a purchase center.
The Secretary of the State Food and Logistics Department took cognizance of the matter and sent the probe team to Deoria to get to the bottom of the scam.
After the verification of the stock of various purchase centers, a big scam was exposed, and it was found that 20,000 quintals of paddy were missing from the stock. Then the suspension order was issued against the accused by the government.
According to DM JP Singh, “during the investigation, it was found that 20,000 quintals of paddy were reported to the centre in-charges but were not found in the godown.”
