A man identified as Saqib from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for spreading false rumors about the death of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The police swiftly took action and registered a case against him under various sections of the law.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when Saqib posted a status on social media claiming that CM Yogi had passed away, which quickly went viral. Saqib, a resident of Gulab Nagar in the Qila police station area, was subsequently arrested. The FIR filed against him states that Saqib Shamsi, son of Mashkur Hussain, circulated a picture of CM Yogi along with the false claim of his demise.
While this misinformation circulated, CM Yogi Adityanath was actively addressing a rally in Mahoba. During his speech, he vehemently criticized his political opponents, highlighting the transformation Uttar Pradesh has undergone under his leadership since 2017.
CM Yogi asserted that prior to 2017, the state was plagued by the terror of dacoits and mafias, with development stagnating under previous administrations. He emphasized the improvements in safety, economic upliftment, and overall development achieved during his tenure.
Furthermore, CM Yogi took a firm stance against those who praise Pakistan, urging them to leave India and settle in Pakistan if they admire it so much. He highlighted the significant strides India has made in poverty alleviation under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, surpassing Pakistan’s population in the process.
The arrest of Saqib underscores the seriousness with which authorities address the spread of false information, especially concerning public figures.
