Lucknow: BJP’s vice-president in Meghalaya, Bernard N Marak has been arrested in Uttar Pradesh. He is accused of running a ‘brothel’ in the farmhouse. He was absconding since Saturday. Meghalaya DGP LR Bishnoi said Marak was arrested from Hapur district. Meghalaya Police had issued an alert to trace them. Marak was arrested while checking vehicles on the national highway.
Police raided Marak’s farmhouse ‘Rimpu Bagan’ on Saturday. In this raid, a brothel was found running there. In addition to recovering a large quantity of liquor boxes, the police had rescued 6 minors, who are suspected to be prostitution. The police had arrested 73 people. The police had asked Marak to cooperate with the investigation, but he was on the run since then.
A Tura court had on Monday issued a non-bailable warrant against Marak on the request of the Meghalaya Police. After this, the police had sent a lookout notice against him to the police of all the states on Tuesday. A few hours after the notice was issued, he was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police in Hapur.
According to the police, 5 out of 6 children found during the police raid on Marak’s farm house were kept in locks. He told that a brothel is being run in this farmhouse. Of the 73 people arrested from the farmhouse at the time of the raid, 47 were young men and 26 women, who were found without clothes and intoxicated.
According to Meghalaya Police DGP LR Bishnoi, the police team has found dozens of boxes of liquor as well as 500 packets of contraceptive pills, cell phones and documents giving information about the crime in the raid.
