Jaunpur: Former MP Dhananjay Singh, who was listed in the missing people record of UP police for some time now, recently surfaced on social media after a video of him went viral. His sudden appearance stirred controversy in the political gallery, while, opposition seized this opportunity to target ruling BJP government of giving protection to bahubali and mafias.
As per records, as many as 10 cases are pending against this famous ‘Bahubali’, who is in electoral fray from Malhani assembly seat of Jaunpur on Janta Dal (United) ticket this time.
When Singh was asked about Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders calling him ‘mafia’, he said that he is not competing with the party’s candidate, but the entire Samajwadi Party as its party chief, Akhilesh Yadav, is continuously tweeting against him, taking his name in speeches.
Akhilesh had shared the video of Dhananjay
Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav had shared a video in a tweet on January 5, without naming anyone, in which Dhananjay Singh was seen playing cricket. Yadav had also said in his recent public address that “mafia’ is playing cricket under the Yogi-government”. Also, Akhilesh had alleged in his tweet that BJP was working with criminals and CM Yogi should prepare a list of “top ten mafia associated with his party and start MBL- ‘Mafia BJP League’ on the lines of IPL”.
Singh, a former MP from Jaunpur Lok Sabha constituency and MLA from Rari (renamed Malhani in delimitation), is the sitting Janata Dal (U) candidate from the constituency. He said, “I am not wanted in any case, but a party is addressing me as a mafia, I am accountable to the people of my area and people know what I am”.
When asked about Samajwadi Party leaders calling him a mafia fugitive, Dhananjay Singh said, “I am enjoying myself, I am not fighting his candidate here, but the whole Samajwadi Party. Their chief is tweeting against me, making statements against me. If he is giving so much importance to Malhani, then I will assume that Samajwadi Party is fighting against me”.
