UP: Samajwadi Party MLA Ataur Rehman booked for trying to kill man at his party office in Bareilly

Bareilly (UP): SP MLA from Bareilly’s Bahedi Ataur Rahman thrashed a young man by locking him in a room at his party office near Jafri Chauraha in the town on Sunday afternoon. The youth was called in the name of settling a land dispute. Police have registered a case late night against four people, including the MLA, on various charges including attempt to murder.

In the report filed, Anees Ahmed of Singauthi village says that there was a dispute regarding the land at eight o’clock on Saturday morning. That’s why Rafiq Ahmed, Raheesh Ahmed and another barged into his house with weapons and thrashed him. In this matter, the MLA called both the parties to his office on Sunday afternoon.

Anees sent his brother-in-law Asim, a resident of Mohalla Shahgarh, to negotiate on his behalf. The said three people were already there, they along with the MLA locked Asim in the room, beat him up and stabbed him on the chest. When Anees himself reached there after a long time, he was also beaten up. When Anees somehow ran away after saving Asim, both of them were fired from behind with the intention of killing them.

Both the parties reached the police station late night saying that there was a compromise
Late night, the victim and the accused reached the police station along with the SP workers. He said that he had given the complaint in a fit of rage. Don’t want any action now. However, after investigation, the police returned them saying that further action would be taken in the matter.

MLA told the allegations wrong
SP MLA Ataur Rahman told that both the parties themselves had come to the office. They returned when there was no agreement. The allegation of assault is wrong. SSP Akhilesh Kumar Chaurasia said that on the basis of evidence, a case has been registered against the Bahedi MLA. Further action will be taken on the basis of investigation.
