Banda, UP: In a tragic incident in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh, a major accident has occurred after a boat capsized in Yamuna river on Thursday. Four people lost their lives in this accident while the search is on for the rest. About 40 people were on board the boat going from Banda to Fatehpur, out of which 20 to 25 are said to be women. There were children in it. Told that due to strong wind the waves arose due to which the sailor could not balance and the boat capsized. Teams of Banda and Fatehpur police have gathered in the rescue.
Banda police had issued a statement saying, ‘A boat full of passengers capsized in Yamuna river going from Fatehpur to Marka village, killing 2 people. So far to identify the number of people on the boat. Search and rescue operation continues.
CM Yogi instructed the team of District Magistrate, DIG, NDRF and SDRF to go to the spot immediately. With this, he has been asked to provide proper treatment to the people being evacuated from the river during the relief work. He expressed grief over the loss of life in the accident. He has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.
There were more than 30 people in this boat. It is being told that while crossing the river the boat got stuck in the vortex due to which it overturned. Naib Tehsildar told that relief work is going on. People are being rescued from the river with the help of divers. This incident happened on the occasion of Rakshabandhan when people were crossing the river to meet their families. But the festival of happiness turned into sorrow.
