The event took place in Udi Mor, under the Badhpura police station area in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah.

The woman, who had been married for more than 18 years, made up the whole thing because she was sick of her relatives making fun of her for not being able to have children.

She used to come to the community health clinic all the time, pretending to be pregnant. However, she abruptly reported having stomach discomfort after six months, confusing her family.

Then, she painted a plastic doll that was malformed and claimed to have given birth to an immature child. The family of the woman then wrapped the “baby” in a cloth and carried it to the nearby clinic for a checkup.

The doctor working at the health clinic explained after closer examination that it was a plastic doll, not a real baby. The doctor even looked at further pregnancy-related documents and X-rays, which likewise turned out to be man-made.

Dr. Harshit, the medical superintendent, claims that the woman used to go there for treatment of a stomach infection rather than for pregnancy-related checkups.

“The woman had been married for a very long period, but she was never able to conceive. Therefore, she took this step to avoid taunts about infertility; she cooked up this story, the doctor said.
