New Delhi:Sibal, a prominent voice of the opposition and a former Congress leader, said instead of a common minimum programme, opposition parties should talk about a “new vision for India”. This statement of Sibal has come at a time when there will be an important meeting of opposition parties in Patna on June 23, which will be hosted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, former All India Congress Committee chief Rahul Gandhi will be present in this meeting. Several leaders, including Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party coordinator Arvind Kejriwal, will hold discussions to form an anti-BJP alliance for next year’s Lok Sabha elections.
Holding on to power in 2024 can be possible only when the objective of all the opposition parties is one. Everyone’s agenda should be the same. Transaction is most important for contesting elections in 2024, many times seats have to be sacrificed to contest elections unitedly. Sibal further said that if once these three things were achieved, then it would be much easier for the party to hold on to power.
Sibal said that it is not necessary that there should be a fight between the opposition parties on every seat. For example, Congress is dominant in Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh. So TMC has its base in West Bengal. There can be a situation of struggle on only a few seats. There is no dispute between the Congress and the DMK in Tamil Nadu. But there may be some difficulties in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. There is a direct fight between the BJP and the Congress in Goa. The former Union minister also emphasized that the 2024 election fight is not against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, but against the ideology that he wants to uphold.
