Upendra Kushwaha, leader of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) and former Union Minister, has been nominated by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as their candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Bihar. After his nomination, Kushwaha thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, LJP leader Chirag Paswan, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, and BJP state president Samrat Chaudhary.

Recent Election: Kushwaha recently finished third in the Karakat constituency in the Lok Sabha elections. CPI(ML) candidate Raja Ram Singh won the seat, and Bhojpuri singer and actor Pawan Singh came in second.
Community Representation: Despite his loss, Kushwaha’s nomination aims to strengthen the NDA’s support within the Kushwaha community, the second largest OBC group after the Yadavs.
This nomination helps the NDA connect with the Kushwaha community.
The INDIA bloc fielded seven candidates from the Kushwaha community in the 2024 elections, while the NDA fielded four.
Recently, Abhay Kushwaha was made the RJD leader in the Lok Sabha, and Bhagwan Singh Kushwaha was chosen as JD(U)’s candidate for the Bihar Council poll.
