Uproar during Muharram procession in Delhi’s Nangloi, mob pelted stones at police

Stones were pelted at Maharaja Surajmal Stadium during the Tajiya procession during Muharram. The police have claimed that the situation is under control.

Eight people died in different incidents on Saturday, July 29, during the Muharram procession. During this, there were some reports of clashes in which many people including 10 policemen were injured.

Stones were pelted during the exit of Tajia in Nangloi area of the capital. The crowd pelted stones at the police while leaving Tajia on Saturday. During this, police vehicles were also damaged. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.

According to the information, the people involved in the procession also wanted to go inside Surajmal Stadium with Tazia but the gate of the stadium was closed. The police were refusing to allow the people involved in the procession to enter. On this, the people involved in the procession got enraged and started pelting stones.

Clashes between Shia and Sunni in UP

Violent fighting and stone-pelting took place between members of ‘Shia’ and ‘Sunni’ Muslim communities during a Muharram procession in UP. Total number of people injured in the incident is reported. However, the police could not tell the exact number of injured.

Two people were killed and 52 injured when a DJ being used in a Muharram procession came in contact with high-voltage wires in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district.

In Bihar too, two groups clashed during the Tazia procession.

There is also news of violence during the Tazia procession in Bihar’s Arwal. People from two akhadas participating in the Tajiya procession clashed with each other near Motha DM office of the district headquarters. Soon a fight started. Five people including the Additional Collector were injured in the incident of this fight. Those who have been admitted to Sadar Hospital in Anan Phanan.

Two people died due to electrocution in Gujarat

Two people lost their lives while 22 others were injured when they were electrocuted while taking out a Muharram procession in Gujarat’s Rajkot district. The incident took place in Rasool Para area of the city when a Tajiya came in contact with a 22 KV overhead electric wire. The deceased were identified as Junaid Majothi (22) and Sajid Sama (20).
