US citizen caught smoking in Air India London-Mumbai flight bathroom, trying to open door; case registered

Mumbai: A case has been filed against a US citizen for reportedly misbehaving with other passengers and smoking in the bathroom on an Air India flight from London to Mumbai, according to Mumbai Police on Sunday. As per reports, the flight crew informed that the man tried to open the door of the flight.

Mumbai: A case has been filed against a US citizen for reportedly misbehaving with other passengers and smoking in the bathroom on an Air India flight from London to Mumbai, according to Mumbai Police on Sunday. As per reports, the flight crew informed that the man tried to open the door of the flight.

The passenger then said he was carrying some medicine but no such object was recovered upon inspection of his luggage. The Sahar Police Station in Mumbai has detained Ramakant, 37, for disrupting an aircraft on March 11.

After which the Sahar Police has registered a case against the accused Ratnakar Karunkant Dwivedi under Section 336 of the IPC and Sections 22, 23 and 25 of the Aircraft Act 1937.

At the same time, the Air India crew member told the Sahar Police that smoking is not allowed in the flight during the flight but as soon as he went to the bathroom, the alarm went off and when all the crew rushed to the bathroom, we saw That there is a cigarette in his hand. We immediately threw the cigarette out of his hand.

He continued, then Ramakant started shouting. Then Ramakanth started shouting at all our crew members. Somehow we took him to his seat. But after some time he tried to open the door of the plane.

All the passengers were scared by his behavior and he started a drama in the flight. He was not. The Air India crew member told the Sahar police that Ramakant was not ready to listen to a single word from us and was just shouting. After which we tied his hands and legs and made him sit on the seat. After this he started banging his head.

Police said one of the passengers was a doctor. He came and examined her. Then Ramakant said that he had some medicine in his bag, but on checking the bag, an e-cigarette was found.

After the flight landed, the passenger Ramkant was handed over to the Sahar police. Where the police have taken him into custody and registered a case under various sections of the IPC.

Police said the accused is of Indian origin but a citizen of the United States of America and holds an American passport.

Police said that we have sent the sample of the accused for medical examination to confirm whether he was in an inebriated condition or mentally disturbed.
