Tehran: Iran has been facing anti-hijab protests across the country after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody for not following the dress code of the country. Since then, people of a liberal mindset are protesting against the government, and in this incident, a huge number of people and security personnel lost their lives.

Iran wants to smother the ongoing protest by using force. Therefore, the United States condemned the second execution carried out in public. “We condemned this harsh treatment in the strongest terms,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said.

This harsh decree and the first public execution have spread fear in the minds of the people of the country. “They’re intended to conquer unrest, and they simply highlight how much the Iranian government has a fear of its own people,” he added.

The United Nations spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, stressed stopping the executions, saying “capital punishment should not take place.” “UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres claimed that it was a cruel act,” Stephane Dujarric said.

Majidreza Rahnavard, 23, was sentenced to death by a court in Mashhad city. According to the Mizan Online news agency, he was responsible for killing two security personnel with a knife and injuring four others.

Majidreza Rahnavard was publicly hanged in the city. The decision was taken because Iran has been facing a severe protest since the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini in police custody for not covering her body. Her custodial death rocked the entire nation and resulted in protests. Since then, people have been speaking out against the current Iranian government, urging it to step down.
