Suspected Chinese spy balloon shot down hours after US President Joe Biden vowed to address the issue US downed a suspected Chinese spy balloon off the Carolina coast
New Delhi: America today shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon on the east coast of the country. Local media has given this information. Earlier this week, the US claimed that the balloon was spying on sensitive military sites in North America. The Aviation Administration temporarily closed three southeastern airports earlier in the day amid what it called a “national security effort”. Sources reported on the operation.
Local media footage showed a small explosion, after which the balloon fell into the water. The operation was planned in such a way that all the debris fell into the sea. Ships were deployed to remove as much debris as possible.
Hours before the balloon was dropped, US President Joe Biden vowed to look into the matter of the balloon. Asked by reporters to comment on relations with China and the balloon incident, Biden told reporters, “We will look into it.”
The balloon was initially seen entering US airspace on 28 January. The white orb rested on Montana, the site of an intercontinental-ballistic-missile silo. It reached the country’s North Carolina on Saturday.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday that the balloon belonged to China, but said it was a civilian airship conducting climate research and flew by mistake.
Due to the fact that people or property on the ground were not harmed, because of this, the American authorities did not bring it down earlier.
