Uttar Pradesh: 6 arrested , one shot in leg during encounter in UP sister’s rape murder case

A total of six accused have been arrested in connection with the the death of two minor sisters. The police have registered a case under serious sections including POCSO, rape, murder.

Lucknow: A breaking development in this case, the police have arrested 6 people including the main accused Chhotu in connection with the the death of two minor sisters, belonging to the scheduled caste community, who were found hanging from a tree under the Nighasan police station limits of Lakhimpur Kheri district on Wednesday evening. The police have registered a case under serious sections including POCSO, rape, murder. The family had accused three men of abducting, raping and then killing the girls.

The names of the arrested accused are Chhotu, Junaid, Suhail, Arif, Karimuddin, Hafizur Rahman. All of them are friends with each other. After this incident, sensation has spread in the entire area.

Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Suman said, “After the rape, a total of 6 people carried out the incident. The accused had taken the sisters to the fields by luring them. All the 6 accused including the nominated Chotu have been arrested. Arrest has been made after the encounter of one of the accused Junaid. Junaid has been shot in the leg. All the five accused are residents of Lalpur village. The accused live just five kilometers away from the victim’s family. Further information will be given after the post-mortem.” Taking cognizance of this matter, ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar said that officers have been sent to Lakhimpur for investigation.

Local villagers and the girls’ family accused three men of abduction and murder and staged a demonstration at the Nighasan crossing, a few kilometres from the village. The mother of the girls has alleged that three youngsters of the neighbouring village on a bike abducted the two girls from near a hutment while the two sisters were cutting fodder.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadraj tweeted, “The incident of murder of two sisters in Lakhimpur is going to be heartbreaking. The kin says that those girls were kidnapped. Law and order does not get good by giving false advertising in daily newspapers and TVs. After all, why are the heinous crimes being increasing against women in Uttar Pradesh? When will the government wake up? ”

Samajwadi Party chief and Leader of Opposition in UP Legislative Assembly Akhilesh Yadav tweeted, “After kidnapping two Dalit sisters in Nighasan police station area, their murder and after that the father’s serious allegation on the police that their post-mortem was done without Panchnama and consent”. “After farmers in Lakhimpur, the killing of Dalits is now a heinous repetition of the ‘Hathras ki Beti’ massacre,” he further wrote.
