Uttar Pradesh Achieves Top Position in Implementing Eight Central Schemes for Street Vendors

Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a frontrunner in efficiently delivering the benefits of eight central government schemes to its citizens under the SVANidhi se Samriddhi Yojana. Over 22 lakh street vendors and their families have already reaped the rewards, marking a significant achievement and setting a new record.

The success can be attributed to the state’s meticulous efforts, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally overseeing the equitable distribution of welfare scheme benefits. The state has secured the top position nationwide in implementing all eight central schemes related to PM SVANidhi, disbursing scheme benefits in three phases to municipal corporations, municipalities, and nagar panchayats.

Anil Kumar, the director of the state urban development agency (SUDA), highlighted the state’s accomplishments, stating that Uttar Pradesh has provided the first installment of loans to 12,08,605 beneficiaries, the second installment to 3,84,487 beneficiaries, and the third to 29,908 beneficiaries, totaling approximately ₹2127.11 crore.

Under the PM SVANidhi Yojana, vendors and their families are entitled to benefits from eight central schemes, including PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, PM Suraksha Bima, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Account, One Nation One Ration Card, Janani Suraksha Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, PM-SYM, and registration under the BOCW scheme.

The state witnessed substantial success in the first phase, benefiting 17,65,975 individuals, followed by 3,62,313 in the second phase, and 87,503 in the third phase. A total of 22,15,791 people in the state have benefited from these central schemes, constituting 76.86 per cent of the total number. Additionally, Uttar Pradesh leads the country in digital transactions conducted by vendors, with 6,57,572 active digital vendors, accounting for 56.4 per cent of the total. Digital transactions have been carried out a total of 198.78 crore times, reflecting the state’s commitment to promoting digital financial inclusion.
