Old Congress leader Syed Sibtey Razi was considered a trusted friend of the Gandhi family.Syed Sibtey Razi, associated with the Congress, was born on March 7, 1939, in Rae Bareli, a Congress stronghold in Uttar Pradesh. Razi breathed his last on 20 August 2022. He died on the 78th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
He took admission in Shia College after completing 10th from Husenabad Higher Secondary School in Rae Bareli. He got into student politics and used to watch account work in many hotels to take out pocket money along with studies. He did B.Com from Lucknow University.Syed Sibtey Razi joined the Uttar Pradesh Youth Congress in 1969. After this he became the state president of Youth Congress in 1971. After being the state president of Youth Congress for two years, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1980 to 1985.
He was also the General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee from 1980 to 1984. Congress made him a member of the Rajya Sabha for the second time from 1988 to 1992 and for the third time from 1992 to 1998. In view of his political experience , the governor was also made.In March 2005, during the tenure of the Governor of Jharkhand, he ignored the number of NDA members in the government and invited Shibu Soren of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha to form the government.
As soon as the complaint was received, the then President APJ Abdul Kalam intervened and the decision of Governor Syed Sibte Razi was changed. After this, Governor Syed Sibje Razi administered the oath of Chief Minister to Arjun Munda of NDA on 13 March 2005.
