Uttar Pradesh Explores New Vidhan Sabha Building: Three Potential Locations Identified

In a significant stride toward development, Uttar Pradesh is on the verge of welcoming a new Vidhan Sabha building. Senior officials recently presented the project to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking a pivotal moment in the state’s progress. The presentation delved into three potential sites for the new building, with an official announcement on the chosen location anticipated soon.

Among the options under scrutiny, the first location is a sprawling 160-acre site near Chak Gajaria farms on Sultanpur Road. Initially identified during the Samajwadi Party’s administration in 2019, this site is making a comeback as a potential choice. Another contender is the area presently occupied by the DGP headquarters and the Lucknow Zoo in Narhi. Plans for the zoo’s relocation to the Kukrail Forest Reserve, following a UP Cabinet decision in 2022, are underway, allowing the area’s consideration for the new Vidhan Sabha building. Lastly, the expansion of the new Lok Bhawan building to incorporate Darul Shafa stands as the third prospective site.

The government is actively scouting for a suitable land parcel, covering an extensive area of about 200 acres within the city. Officials are drawing inspiration from the design of the new Parliament building in Delhi, aiming to create a state-of-the-art facility. The new building is anticipated to be operational before 2027, aligning with the government’s vision to enhance the state’s infrastructure.

The government’s commitment to this endeavor was unveiled by parliamentary affairs minister Suresh Khanna in response to an inquiry from an SP MLA in the state Assembly. A symbolic budget allocation of Rs 50 crore has been earmarked for the project, emphasizing the significance of this monumental development in Uttar Pradesh’s political landscape. Stay tuned for the official announcement, as Uttar Pradesh gears up to embrace a new era of governance and progress.
