The Uttar Pradesh government is gearing up to unveil its initial supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2023-2024 before the state legislative assembly on November 29. This move comes after the presentation of the annual budget amounting to ₹6.90 lakh crore (₹6,90,242.43 crore) on February 22.
The state legislature’s winter session is scheduled to commence on November 28, with preparations underway for the presentation of the supplementary budget. In anticipation of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, there are expectations of provisions for additional funds, particularly for projects nearing completion. The state government may also allocate resources for populist schemes or make related announcements.
During the winter session, the UP government aims to seek approval from the state legislature for ordinances, including the replacement of bills that may have been promulgated since the last session. Additionally, recently approved bills by the state cabinet will be presented for consideration.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has hinted at the possibility of convening a special session to discuss the government’s ambitious goal of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a trillion-dollar economy. This strategic initiative aligns with the broader vision for economic development in the state.
