Lucknow: The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh has ordered to reopen regular schools for class 6th to 8th from February 10, while, classes from 1st to 5th will resume from March 1.
The decision to reopen the schools was taken after evaluating the complete scenario that had compelled the authorities worldwide to undergo complete lockdown due to the Corona Virus outbreak. In view of Covid-19 pandemic, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were issued by the state authorities for reopening of the schools. The schools are expected to follow all the SOPs set before and after reopening.
Meanwhile, schools were reopened in the state for higher classes in October 2020 after corona scares had settled down a little. While, for junior and university level, the government had recommended conducting online classes.
As of now, the coronavirus cases have significantly declined in the state over the past few weeks. With nationwide daily caseload hovering around 10,000 and vaccination campaign in process, several states and Union Territories have either reopened schools or announced plans for the same. UP is also leading in the vaccination of frontline and healthcare workers under the first phase of the inoculation drive.
In March last year, during the onset of the corona virus, all educational institutions were shut down by the state government as part of the measures to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
