Uttarakhand accident: 25 killed and 21 rescued as bus falls into gorge in Uttarakhand Pauri Garhwal

Haridwar: At least 25 people have died in a road accident in Uttarakhand's Pauri on Tuesday night, while 21 people have been rescued. Under Haridwar, a bus full of 50 processions going from Laldhang to Kara Talla had fallen uncontrollably into a 500-metre deep gorge near village Simdi.

Haridwar: At least 25 people have died in a road accident in Uttarakhand’s Pauri on Tuesday night, while 21 people have been rescued. Under Haridwar, a bus full of around 45-50 processions going from Laldhang to Kara Talla had fallen uncontrollably into a 500-metre deep gorge near village Simdi.

According to the information, The incident took place in the Birokhal area of Dhumakot as the vehicle ferried a wedding procession from Laldhang. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had also visited the Disaster Management Authority office in Dehradun to assess the situation.

Haridwar SP City Swatantra Kumar Singh said, “A wedding procession had left in a bus from here, Laldhang; an accident occurred. Information is being taken from the family members. A rescue operation is still underway by Pauri Police and SDRF at the spot,”

He further said, “Around 40-42 people were on the bus, including women and children. We are in continuous touch with the Pauri police and villagers. So far, 15-16 people have been rescued and sent to the nearest hospital. No information on any deaths received yet.”

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said, “25 people have died in a bus accident that took place in Bidkhal area of ​​Pauri Garhwal last night. Police and SDRF rescued 21 people overnight. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.”

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams were mobilised for the accident spot. We are trying our best to take all the facilities to the accident spot. Local villagers are helping in the rescue operation.”
