In a significant development, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the impending implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand. Speaking at the Shasthi Purti Mahotsav held in Vatsalya Gram at Vrindavan, organized to celebrate the 60 years of Sadhvi Ritambhara’s ‘sanyas,’ Dhami revealed that the bill for UCC implementation would soon be presented in the state assembly.
Dhami confirms the tabling of the Uniform Civil Code bill in the upcoming assembly sessions, marking a pivotal legislative step towards fostering uniformity in personal laws across the state.
In a comprehensive statement, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the significance of the Uniform Civil Code, emphasizing its role as a common code of personal laws that will be applicable to individuals of all religious backgrounds.
Taking a swipe at opposition parties, Dhami asserted that those responsible for firing at “Ram bhakts” would not have been instrumental in significant initiatives such as the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the abrogation of Article 370 granting special status to Jammu and Kashmir, or the abolition of triple talaq.
Dhami reaffirmed the commitment to constructing the Ram Temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and announced that the fulfillment of this commitment would be marked on January 22, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi participating in the consecration ceremony.
Describing Sadhvi Ritambhara as an epitome of “vatsalya” (affection) and motherhood, Dhami extended warm wishes on her 60th birthday during the event. He sought the blessings of revered seers present at the celebration, expressing admiration for Sadhvi Ritambhara’s inspirational role during the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation.
Dhami acknowledged being inspired by Sadhvi Ritambhara’s impactful lectures during the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation, attributing her affection and blessings as driving forces that motivated him to serve the people with increased vigor and strength.
