Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recently visited Sharda Ghat to assess the water level and the aftermath of recent disasters. He announced plans to elevate and enhance Sharda Ghat, ensuring it becomes a grand and secure site. Additionally, CM Dhami assured the disaster-affected residents that they would receive compensation.

Key Announcements and Instructions
Sharda Ghat Enhancement: CM Dhami stated that Sharda Ghat would undergo significant development, with plans to increase its height and security. The proposed new ghat, worth Rs 37 crore, is expected to withstand higher water levels, enhancing safety for the community.

Channelizing Kirora Drain: To prevent future flooding, the Chief Minister directed officials to permanently channelize the Kirora drain. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive action plan from the Irrigation Department for the drain’s diversion.

Disaster Relief and Compensation: CM Dhami met with disaster-affected residents, assuring them of compensation. He instructed officials to provide immediate relief funds to those impacted by flooding.

Immediate and Long-Term Measures
Debris and Drainage Management: Immediate removal of debris and water drainage solutions were ordered. Roads, particularly from Kirora bridge to Batnagarh, should be cleared promptly to facilitate access to Maa Purnagiri temple.

Infrastructure and Utilities: CM Dhami instructed the Jal Sansthan and Energy Corporation to ensure continuous electricity and water supply. The maintenance and quick restoration of road access were also prioritized to prevent inconvenience for travelers.
Community Engagement and Feedback

During his visit, CM Dhami engaged with local residents and officials:

Feedback from Residents: Meera Devi, a Sharda Ghat resident, expressed relief due to the recent construction efforts. Residents from Nayakgoth, Boragoth, and Ghasiara Mandi raised concerns about the Kirora drain and submitted a compensation request.
Official Coordination: CM Dhami gathered information from Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat and DM Navneet Pandey. The DM highlighted that the construction of a spur near the ghat helped save four lakh cusecs of water during the disaster.

Support from Local Leaders
The visit saw the presence of various local leaders and officials, including former Municipal President Harshvardhan Singh Rawat, BJP Mandal President Tulsi Kunwar, and SDM Akash Joshi. They supported the CM’s initiatives and emphasized the government’s commitment to providing all possible help to the affected individuals.
