Uttarakhand minister Ganesh Joshi termed Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination as ‘accidents’

Dehradun: Uttarakhand cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi said on Tuesday that martyrdom is not the property of the Gandhi family and that the assassinations of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were accidents. In a program organized here on his birthday, Joshi said, “I feel sorry for Rahul Gandhiji’s intelligence. Bhagat Singh, Savarkar and Chandrashekhar Azad gave martyrdom in the freedom movement. Martyrdom is not their inheritance, it is an accident happened with the members of Gandhi family. There is a lot of difference between martyrdom and accident.

He further said that one who has as much intelligence, will talk as much. Joshi said this when asked by reporters about the speech given by the Congress leader at the conclusion of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Srinagar.

Joshi, the Minister of Military Welfare in the Pushkar Singh Dhami government, credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Gandhi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir in a peaceful atmosphere.

He said, “The credit for this goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, if Article 370 had not been removed, the atmosphere would not have been good and Rahul Gandhi could not have hoisted the tricolor at Lal Chowk.”

BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi hoisted the national flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar when violence was at its peak in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that he himself was present in this program along with Joshi.
