Uttarakhand police’s special task force nabbed two persons, in Dehradun, who both used to issue Aadhaar cards on the basis of fake documents.
Dehradun: The racket of issuing fake Aadhaar cards and other crucial documents is spreading its feet in numerous places. People spend some money, and they get important documents after showing some fake certificates. Common service centre operators, in the lust of money, don’t do any scrutiny.
Meantime, Uttarakhand police’s special task force nabbed two persons, including an operator at a common services centre (CSC) in Dehradun, who both used to issue Aadhaar cards on the basis of fake documents.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ayush Agarwal said that both the accused have been identified as CSC operators Idrees Khan and Rohil Malik, and they are residents of Dehradun’s Selakui area.
Agarwal added that the accused used fake birth certificates printed by their associates to enrol people for issuing Aadhaar numbers.
The guilty parties told the police that plenty of migrants reach Selakui to get work in the factories located here. “It is common that they make forged birth certificates of those under the age of 18 and increase their age in their Aadhaar card by using the fake document on the UIDAI website,” Agarwal added.
In December 2022, STF arrested three men, including a common services centre operator in Rishikesh, on similar charges that they were also generating crucial documents that are essential these days, such as Aadhaar cards, voter identity cards, and permanent account numbers (PAN cards), on fake documents.
