The film is directed by Sooraj Barjatya of Vivah fame. The film is based on the story of three friends and how they aim to climb Mt Everest despite their age. The fourth friend is Danny Denzongpa in the movie, who also wished to be part of the mission to climb Mt Everest with them. Unfortunately, Danny dies before the start of the mission. The remaining three friends decided to fulfil the wish of their departed friend. They took the decision to immerse Danny’s ashes in Mt Everest. The film is the fine return of director Sooraj Barjatya after his 2015 film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Payo, which starred Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, and Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film Uunchai will hit theatres on November 11, 2022.
Talking about letting go of his “trappings”, Sooraj Barjatya said at the film’s trailer launch, “In this film, I have moved away from all my earlier trappings. There once was a charm that if you named (a character) Prem, the film would work.
