The controversy over the Kashmir Files has not been allowed to die. In the wake of the movie, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal is now on the receiving end. The protesters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today reached the Delhi CM’s house and created a ruckus.
They had objected to Kejriwal’s statement in which he referred to the Kashmiri Pandit massacre depicted in the film as a hoax.
BJP promotes the Kashmir Files
In his speech at the Delhi Assembly recently, Kejriwal blamed the saffron party for working as the PR for the Kashmir Files.
BJP MP Tejasvi Surya led the demonstration from IP College to the CM’s residence. The front gate of the CM’s residence was damaged.
A skirmish also broke out between the BJP workers and the police outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence today during a protest.
Visuals from the spot made it clear that a huge number of people were carrying BJP flags and placards condemning the “insult” to Kashmiri Pandits. Many of them were seen trying to jump through the security cordon.
About 150-200 protesters were on the scene.
The police have said that around 150–200 protestors from the BJP Yuva Morcha reached the CM’s residence around 11:30 in the morning to protest against his remarks on ‘the Kashmir Files‘ in the Delhi assembly. The police claim that they “immediately” removed them from the spot and detained around 70 people. Legal action is being initiated, they said.
AAP accuses BJP
The official Twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party accused the BJP of vandalising Kejriwal’s residence. The tweet read: “CM Kejriwal’s house attacked by BJP! BJP workers vandalised security barriers, CCTV cameras, and gates.
Sisodia terms protesters as anti-social
Various AAP leaders came into action and reacted to the spot where they saw the vandalism. On his Twitter handle, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that “antisocial” elements smashed CCTV cameras and the security barriers at Mr. Kejriwal’s house. They also broke the boom barriers at the entrance, he added. In another tweet, he claimed the perpetrators were “BJP goons” who the Delhi police helped.
While, Aatishi wrote: “Shocking! What was Delhi Police doing when BJP workers and leaders were on the rampage at CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence? Did they have orders from Amit Shah’s office to support the BJP vandals? “
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal recently addressed the Delhi Legislative Assembly in which he spoke at length and breadth regarding the Kashmir Files.
He clarified that he was laughing “at the BJP and not at the Kashmir Files.” “We were laughing at the BJP. The BJP is indulging in gimmicks instead of rehabilitating the Kashmiri Pandits. The BJP and its workers are sticking posters of the movie everywhere. Is this what BJP leaders entered politics for? “In his speech, Kejriwal lashed out at the BJP for promoting the film.
