Varanasi-Based Company Set to Introduce Mini-Cruise Service on the Saryu River

In a groundbreaking initiative, Varanasi-based Alaknanda Cruise, under the direction of Vikas Malviya, is set to introduce two solar-powered ‘mini-cruise’ ships on the Saryu River in Ayodhya, with operations commencing before the scheduled inauguration of the Ram Temple in January next year. These vessels, aptly named ‘Ramayana,’ are designed to provide an immersive experience, aiming to disseminate knowledge about the key events in the life of Lord Ram.

Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the vessels will offer a captivating journey, guiding pilgrims through significant stages of Lord Ram’s life, including his childhood, years in Gurukul, Swayamvar, time in the forest, meeting with Lord Hanuman, victory over Ravan, and triumphant return to Ayodhya. Alaknanda Cruise, already operating four similar vessels in Varanasi, brings its expertise to enhance the spiritual and cultural experience for visitors.

Vikas Malviya, the director of Alaknanda Cruise, shared that the inauguration of the two mini-cruise ships is scheduled to take place before the official opening of the Ram Temple, and the company is in the final phase of preparations.

Each vessel, accommodating 30 passengers, will be fully air-conditioned, ensuring a comfortable and enriching experience. During the approximately hour-long journey, pilgrims will be treated to mesmerizing views of Ayodhya’s ghats along the banks of the Saryu River, creating a spiritual and picturesque ambiance.

A notable feature of these vessels is their reliance on solar power for operation, aligning with sustainable and eco-friendly tourism practices. This not only enhances the environmental appeal of the initiative but also complements the broader goals of promoting responsible tourism.

Tourism officials are optimistic that the introduction of this cruise service will significantly boost tourism in Ayodhya, attracting pilgrims and tourists alike. The initiative is expected to create both direct and indirect job opportunities, contributing to the economic development of the region.

The introduction of solar-powered ‘mini-cruise’ ships in Ayodhya represents a harmonious blend of cultural promotion, sustainable tourism, and economic growth, offering visitors a unique and spiritually enriching experience.
